Nope i bet you don’t. Hockey isn’t just about the ridiculous amounts of money you spend, the ridiculous hours of the day you play, the ridiculous way we talk. As gongshow hockey once said,”It’s never been for the fucking money, it’s not for the girls, and it’s not for the fame! The boys play because we fucking love it.” Hockey isn’t just a sport, it’s a way to live. Do you think on a regular basis we’d wake up at five in the morning for anything other than a hockey practice? I love the late night games, the heartbreak, the miracle, the shootouts, the bar down goals, poking it five hole, and the big hits. I love it all about hockey. People are so disgusted when I tell them how hard we work. Skating so hard we went to upchuck our pre game meals, but we skate so hard because skating releases all your emotions on the ice. Your angry? You skate harder. Your Happy with how your playing? You skate harder. Your worried your teams gonna lose? You skate harder. I skate hardest on my toughest days. Hockey is just more than dudes or chicks (haha) in pads trying to beat each other for a puck. It’s a culture, the way we live is different than your way of living. We wake up before the sun, and travel far distances for hockey games. We talk differently and worry more about how we look more than anyone. The way you look is just as important as how you play. You might think were weird, you might think i’m crazy but I love this sport. I know I haven’t played as much as some people, but I can assure you, Hockey has changed my life for the better.
